MVP - Men of Vision & Purpose

MVP - Men of Vision & Purpose

Fairlawn MVP exists to fulfill our primary objective at Fairlawn: to make disciples. Specifically, we will work to attract and challenge men to pursue a deeper, more meaningful walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe men are called by God into leadership (Acts 26:16) – in our families, our church, at work and in our communities – Fairlawn MVP will focus on equipping men to fulfill this calling in each of these areas of our lives.

We are committed to making disciples of men, regardless of where they are today in their walk with Christ. We will follow the strategy Fairlawn has adopted to help us direct men along to the point where they are ministering to others: Loving God, Loving Others & Serving the World

Our efforts to attract and influence men will not consist of a program, but a series of strategic actions (events, recreational activities, classes, Life Group involvement, promotions, service activities, missions trips, etc.) designed carefully and purposefully to take men from where they are today to a place of greater discipleship with our Lord. We will do this by providing opportunities where men can come together to:

Receive exhortation, encouragement, training and participate in biblical worship in large group events presented with outstanding excellence and professionalism (i.e., Men’s Conferences and Breakfasts, Marriage Conferences, Men’s Weekend Retreats, and other specific meetings, events or conferences presented by proven or nationally-recognized speakers). – 2 Timothy 2:2, Colossians 1:28.

Make connections with other men in small group meetings where more specific training, encouragement and personal accountability can happen (i.e., small group bible studies on specific topics such as Spiritual Disciplines, Responsibilities of Husbands & Fathers, Financial Management, Spiritual Leadership, Pornography, etc., presented by pastors and lay teachers at Fairlawn, small accountability groups, support groups, etc.). – Proverbs 27:17, Philippians 2:4.

Serve shoulder-to-shoulder with other men in local, regional and international service and missions projects where men can experience making a real difference in the lives of others (i.e., local service projects for Fairlawn and community people in need, regional and national service or missions projects organized by the SBC and others, and international missions projects where men can work together to accomplish a challenging and meaningful project that will impact lives for Christ). – Matthew 20:28, Acts 1:8.

Have fun together laughing, recreating and building bonds that will last (i.e., golf and fishing tournaments, recreational sports, camping trips, hunting trips, father-son and father-daughter events and outings, local sporting events, etc.). – Proverbs 18:24.
