When did you join the staff of Fairlawn? Off and on, I have been with the Fairlawn staff for 18 years.
What is your primary responsibility at Fairlawn? I am the minister of music responsible for leading the adult choir, organizing and leading the morning worship services and Wednesday night Bible study.
What do you love most about working at Fairlawn? As always anything with Fairlawn…the people. I love the fact that we can try different things and most of the people will put their own preferences and desires second to doing what it is going to take reach people for Christ. The church has a strong desire to seek the will of God and follow where He is leading.
Who is the most influential person in your life? I don’t know that I can narrow this down to one person. There have been so many people that have contributed to who I am. There are the music teachers who along the way have given me the love for music that I have. Growing up, my family raised me in a Christian home and showed me what sacrifice was and how to put others first. There is my church family that also helped raise me and helped me to love the church and to serve God. There are a series of pastors who helped show me God’s calling for my life. To narrow this down to one person would be impossible.
What inspires you? I love music. To me it is one of the most awesome ways that we have to worship and praise God. There is so much new music out there. New writers whose music I believe will be around for a while because of the message it presents. The “old music” also has a very rich heritage in who we are as Christians and our faith. I love blending the old with the new. Isn’t that what the Christian life is to be as well? We should be trying to blend the older generations in with the new so that all feel that they are worshipping God. What a great and awesome task. I just pray that God would find me worthy.
Do You Write With Your Right or Left Hand? Righty
Any Hidden Talents? Not many people know that I was actually a pretty good trumpet player in my day.
Life Long Goal: To be known as a follower of Christ. That I was willing to do what God called me to do. To be the best husband and father that God has called me to be. When I meet my heavenly Father, to be told, “Well done.”
Little Known Fact About Me: I am an avid reader. When I get the time, I love to either sit down with a book or my iphone (I have books downloaded on it. It the “techno-nerd” in me.), and read.
