December 4, 1967 - Fairlawn Baptist Church began as a Home Bible Study at the Fred and Deanna Morgan residence at Washington, WV with four in attendance.

May 8, 1968 (Wednesday) - The mission became known as Fairlawn Baptist Chapel.

May 12, 1968 (Mother's Day) - Sunday morning services began with 27 attending Sunday School and 28 attending Church service.

November 1968 - The mission called its first pastor, Rev. Floyd Tidsworth.  Brother Floyd served as Area Missionary to the Upper Ohio Valley Association as well as pastor to Fairlawn.

December 1968 - The Chapel rented and moved into an old two-story house in Washington, WV better known as "The Green House". 

Fall 1969 - The chapel moved into the Community Building  in Washington, WV.

January 4, 1970 - The chapel held its Constitutional Service and became known as Fairlawn Baptist Church.

Early 1970 - The Church purchased property from Ken and Armeda Moore  and built a building located on Route 2 and DuPont Road, Parkersburg, WV.  Wilbert Boston, Chairman of the Building Committee, led the way in construction as many members and friends gave of their time, talents, and tithe to get the building ready for use.

January 1971 - After Pastor Floyd moved to New Martinsville in the fall of 1970 to work as full time Area Missionary, the Church called Rev. Tom Lang to become pastor.

April 25, 1971 - The first service was held at the current location.

September 12, 1971 - The Dedication Services were held.

April 1973 - Tom Lang resigned as Pastor to serve as Director of the Sunday School Department of the WV Convention of Southern Baptists.  (Over 40 additions were made to the church membership while the church was without a pastor.)

June 16, 1974 - Rev. Sam Crawford accepted the pastorate of Fairlawn and preached his first sermon.

July 20, 1975 - The Deacon Board of Fairlawn licensed Alvie Edwards as a pastor to the Gospel Ministry and Ordination Services were held.

August 1980 - Fairlawn purchased the Roger's property next door to the church to be used as classrooms.

July 1980 - April 1984 - Brother Jim Murphy served as Associate Pastor.

July 7, 1985 - Rev. Sam Crawford resigned to accept a call to Beacon Hill Baptist Church, Somerset, KY.  Brother Sam built Fairlawn as a "Church of Love".

August 1985 - Brother Ray Slaughter, Area Missionary accepted the position of Interim Pastor.

November 1985 - Fairlawn extended a call to Dr. David Dockery to serve as pastor.

December 1985 - The Missions Committee with Brother Ray Slaughter met with the members of the West Union Chapel.

January 5, 1986 - Dr. David Dockery began serving as pastor.

February 1986 - Fairlawn sponsored the chapel in West Union.

October 12, 1986 - Fairlawn celebrated its first Annual Day with approximately 150 people in attendance.

December 7, 1986 - Glory Day was held with $7,985 given in tithes and offerings.

January 1987 - The Preschool Learning Center was started with Debbie Thrall and Ingrid Higgins directing.  The center proved successful and a full years school was begun in September, 1987.

February 1987 - Fairlawn entered the Together We Build (TWB) Program. 

June 1987 - Fairlawn purchased the adjoining 17.5 acres from Kenneth & Armeda Moore. 

September 20, 1987 - A "Share-the-Dream" banquet was held at the Washington Community Building.

May 1988 - David Sommerville came to Fairlawn as a summer youth worker and was then hired as youth pastor.  It was under David's leadership that the Fairlawn youth began summer mission trips.

July 10, 1988 - Ground Breaking on the educational wing of the church.

June 1990 - Brother Dockery resigned to serve as pastor of First Baptist of Princeton, WV.

July 1991 - Rev. Don Yeager was called to serve as pastor of Fairlawn.  During his tenure, the Church continued to grow in areas of missions and discipleship.  We were also given a vision for a new Worship Center.  During Don's time at Fairlawn, Jim Barnhouse was called into the ministry and graduated from Clear Creek College.  Jim Graham was also called into the ministry and graduated from Southern Seminary.

September 1993 - David Sommerville left Fairlawn to become pastor of First Baptist of Craigsville, WV.

December 1, 2002 - Rev. Shawn Hall accepted the position of Minister of Youth and Education. 

December 31, 2002 - Rev. Don Yeager retired from Fairlawn. 

May 4, 2003 - Ground Breaking on a new Worship Center.  Representatives from our State Convention, Immanuel Association, and Grae-Con Construction participated.

August 5, 2003 - Rev. Bill Reid accepted the position of Senior Pastor.  He preached his first sermon on August 11.

February 15, 2004 - First service in the new Worship Center.

January 9, 2005 - Jason Johnson accepted the position of Minister of Music.  His first Sunday was February 6.

February, 2006, Jason Johnson resigned his position as Minister of Music to accept a position in Kentucky.

August, 2006, Rev. Shawn Hall resigned his position as Minister of Youth to accept a position of senior pastor at Pine Grove Baptist Church.

September 17, 2006 - Rev. Bill Reid resigned as pastor of Fairlawn Baptist Church to accept a position in another state.  He preached his last sermon on October 1.

April, 2007 - Rev. John Adams,  accepted the position of Interim Pastor.  He served for about 8 months.

January, 2008 - Rev. Terry Harper accepted the position of Interim Pastor.

February 17, 2008 - Rev. Greg Varndell accepted the position of Senior Pastor.  He preached his first sermon on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008.
